my grill won;t stay on ,same symptoms as john (jan 2010) ?

I hjave changed the thermocouple but same result, noticed the two leads from the thermocouple connect to small block ,KSDO20-1A,TT1007, 120 DEGREES.if this unit is faulty am i ok to short the thermocouple leads together and if it then works i know the block is the fault?
