finding and repairing electrical fault for renault clio grande 1.2 1999?

i have an electrical fault from the e.c.u to the ignition.
am looking for the electrical diagrams for the car but as im only a beginner i wondered how difficult a job it was. any advice would be great.

hi, thanks for answering. I have taken it to a garage and they plugged the a fault finding computer into the car under neath the ash tray. it showed up a wiring fault between the e.c.u and ignition. the electician couldn't give me a price because he wasn't sure how long it would take him to find the problem. As the car is fairly old i didn't want to take the chance of him stumping up a £300+ bill for something i might be able to do. thanks

The Haynes car manuals (Amazon sell them) have wiring diagrams - as an ex computer engineer I find them well laid out but a little difficult to follow easily mainly because of lack of experience. When a signal cable arrives at a component like the ecu all you may see is a box with a number in it. You look the number up in a table and it will just say ecu.

You do not mention the specific fault you have so experts may have difficulty helping you (I am not an expert).

You may do better using a specialist auto electrician.
