My old oven heating element failed recently and i have just installed the replacement part. The part number is exactly the same as previous and the wattage (2000 watts) is the same.

However, every time i switch it on, it keeps tripping out the my house fuse box.

Any thoughts on what may be the cause?

Thanks Tony. Thats interesting because the new element had two contacts for the earth whereas the old element just had one contact for the earth. The oven just has one earth wire so i connected it to just one of the earth contacts. Could this be something to do with it?

earth leakage try taking earth wire off then test it as some elements you have to heat them first b4 they work
