Engine management light on CDTI 1.3 corsa ?

My wife has a 1.3 CDTI corsa on a 56 plate, about a mile/ 5mins after starting vehicle the engine management light comes on, had it in the garage they said problem was with glow plugs, replaced glow plug timer, checked glow plugs. Still have not fixed problem they think it is the ECU (£600). Obviously I do not want to replace this and find out it still has not fixed it they would not take back the relay and charged me for that (Arnold Clark Dundee), does anyone know how I can fix this please car runs ok but wife refuses to drive car because of warning light.

Have had the same issue over the last two years, and have spent over £500, told at fist ECU and replaced at over £300 cost, light still came on few months later, and being told wiring issue to glow plug relay unit, and further £75.00 to have wires fixed, few weeks later light back on so just ran car till next service was due, as car running perfect, again garage checked and told needed new glow plug relay unit, and replaced, again light out for few days, and back on, so took back to garage, and told have done all checks possible, and if I wanted to investigate further would have to get Vauxhall Electrical Engineer to investigate, so have just decided to keep running with issue, as do not wish to through anymore cash, Car as done 84.500 Miles, and gets full service every year, and runs perfectly, other than the management light.

I've had the same issue with the light coming on after a couple miles. Initially showed fault for fuel filter so drained and swapped out. Issue was then less bad but now showing for glow plug relay and glow plugs. I suspect the plugs are OK so am going for the relay first then plugs if it persists.

engine management came on after about five minutes
after starting car. after reading on forums about the problem most people thought it was the egr which is expensive and awkward to get at. about a year previous i replaced the glow plugs but kept the old ones as i was trying to cure a bad starting problem. so i replaced the new plugs with the old ones and lo and behold no more problems with the old spanner light coming on. turned out it was a faulty glow plug .

My son has the same problum with his Corsa my workshop staff have informed me after conecting the computer to it that it was an open circit to the heater plugs which means the glow plug relay is faulty this number is for a 1.7 vectra GM 55353011 you should be able to find the Corsa number easy enough, this is a plug in part easy to replace once you get to it. it can be found on the inside of the bonnet behind the fuse box front right hand side of the car. About £25 from a breakers yard.

Mark,

Did you ever find out what the problem was? I have exactly the same problem...

Glow plugs have just been replaced, but 5 miles into journey home the light has come back on again. Absolutely no change to the drive at all...

Any feedback would be much appreciated

Cheers

Sam

Have found out how to read the codes and eventually found the list of codes, the car is showing two fault codes:
1) P0683 Glow Plug Control Module to PCM Communication Circuit
2) P0704 Clutch Switch Input Circuit Malfunction
can anybody help please

Hi kenny
Arnold Clark told me it was the glow plugs, I never seen the codes, but they spent 5 hours trying to find out what it was, the wife can not think of anything happening before the light came on and it does not look that she filled it up with fuel, I have since put some fuel in Esso.
Thanks

hi take it up to DIS , top of old glamis road, ask for gordon . he will fix it

Was it Arnold Clark who told you it was the glowplugs?
What fault codes did you get from the diagnostics?
Was anything done to the car prior to the light coming on, even just filling it with fuel?
