Zanussi - Need to slam the door really hard before it will work?

We have a Zanussi machine and lately when I shut the door it refuses to work unless I slam it really hard or kick the machine, both are obviously not a good idea. Any ideas of what could be wrong and how I can fix it.

I think it will be the door locking device a very common fault with Zanussi's I gather. The Haynes - Washing Machine Manual - has a lot of info to help find problems with you auto it has helped me no end. Try Amazon or Haynnes web site.
