Road lights?
Turn on ignition turn on road lights switch on car.
Check terminal 5 on the black tow socket which is the feed for left or near side [kerb] road lights on caravan.
Then check the centre pin which is side lights for the right or off side of the caravan
Do the indicators work?
Do the foglights work? [if fitted]
Reading from the top pin in the black tow socket the following sequence is read clockwise.
1 Indicator Left Yellow [12]
2 Rear fog light Blue [2]
3 Earth White [4]
4 Indicator Right Green [6]
5 Side lights, marker lights & number plate light Right Brown [8]
6 Brake lights Red [10]
7 Side lights, marker lights & number plate light Left Black [centre clock face]
Numbers in brackets refer to clock face position as someone asked me what is clockwise.
TEST ON THE BLACK 12N TOW SOCKET:
Turn on car ignition then car side lights check terminals as above for current with a neon circuit tester for cars 12v
Carry out test on each of the lighs socket pins that are not working see if you are getting current in the tow socket.
If no current ensure pin clean re-test if still no current then fault could be where the lights are picked up in the wire harness of the vehicle.
If tests are ok showing current then check the plug on the caravan clean it then re-connect to car socket and see if lights work. if not check for blown fuse or bad connections in caravan 12v fuse bank. trace the cable to terminal points.
If nothing works at car end it could be relay fault
I have found with the road lights is a common fault bad earth....White on lights clusters I think but differ
