Hiya my brake lights are not working on my astra 1.6 2002, i have read the answer above but what is the pedal rubber? is it the actual brake pedal, please explain thanks :)

First test remove stoplamp bulbs test for current with ignintion ON and someone pressing the brake pedal. If no current on both lights it's most likely to be the stoplamp switch but can't say where it is.

Check the brake light switch, it is mounted just up from the pedal rubber on a bracket, it can sometimes just need pedal pushing down and the shaft of the switch pulling out as they are on a rachet system, otherwise replacement.
