How to fix a Dyson DC07 Animal?

My Dyson has lost a lot of its suction power and tends to cut out if used over 5 mins. The hoover is not blocked as far as i can tell. There is hardly any suction power when using upright aswell as attatchments. Im wondering if there is a blockage which is affecting the motor? but unable to get inside as it seems to need a certain type screwdriver. Could this be the problem?

It sounds like the filter (which is below the dirt canister) is probably full and therefore clogged. You will need to take it out and rinse it and let it dry thoroughly before putting it back. I keep a spare filter so I always have a dry one to use.
