How do I prevent my Hotpoint SE661X cooker turning off?

Electronic controled Hotpoint cooker set to manual with clock set to correct time. Set to required temperature and oven setting. After about 30 minutes the power fails to cooker completely. The power returns after about 5 minutes with the controls showing auto and 2mins. After2mins the power disapears and resets itself with 2mins cooking time left. Could the fault be anything other than the control unit

Ive just had a very similar problem with this oven. I have also noticed the food burning recently. This led me to suspect the temp was getting too high, possibly faulty thermostat. Ive checked it with an oven thermometer and found that set at 200 the actual temp reaches 240 then shortly after power cuts out. This has to be a thermal cutout protection kicking in, as the power resumes once its cooled. Thats where im up to. Considering getting hotpoint to check it.
