Variator?

Hi
How do I know if the weights or the Variator needs changing? What are they ment to look like when they are worn out.
Many thanks
Andy

Hi Adam
I checked the weights and they looked fine. Im having a problem after the first full twist of the throttle the bike dies. Its hitting 40+ first time then when I open the throttle again it onthe goes to 30mph and revs up to 6500 and then slows to 6000rpm. Do you think lighter weights will help or someone said it could be my choke stuck on?
Thanks

well they will look flattened off in places if they are worn as they do have a tendency to slid and not roll like they are designed to,if the bike pulls away slowly sometimes and not others its a good indication that the rollers are jamming and not moving freely.if it pulls away slowly all the time then get some light weight rollers for it i would reccomend 5 gram or 4-4.5 gram with a race pipe fitted.
