Alarm sounds when there is a powercut?

Every time there is a power cut the alarm goes off on the Scantronic 9450 system. Is this action correct or should the battery pack keep the system going without the alarm sounding off during the power cut?

i have a different alarm panel to yours - i would have thought that with any panel the battery back up prevents it from going off. i know this because when i power down the mains the alarm is ok, but when i also power down the battery back up it goes off. it may be your battery that needs replacing.

The standby battery within the main control panel has probably gone flat. This should be a rechargeable type but they are designed to last only about 5 years. If you open the main panel, the tamper alarm will go off, just enter your code to stop it. Pull out the battery which may be swelled, feel hot or sound if its full of liquid, and replace it with a similar size battery (available from somewhere like screwfix for about £10) any 12v rechargeable battery will work but they usually come with different amperes, just try getting one of a similar size. make sure you put the wires on the appropriate red and black terminals. shut the lid on the main box. then press reset or enter your code on the panel and it should be fine. Hope this helps.

No more, no less, you need a new battery.
