It is better to try and repair it through the soundhole although this may be tricky. Cut some bits of timber that will jam the ribs against the other side and clamp the outsides of the guitar slightly to stop it from pushing up into a dome shape. If you want the back off, put rags and hot water over the joints to be opened for a day or two and this should softn the glue holding it all together. The purfling around the guitar normally shrinks when removed and thus won't fit exactly when you try to rebuild it.
