how do I unseize the throttle linkage on a Honda cb500?

How can I unseize the throttle linkage so the butterflies will open fully? The bike (honda cb500 cup) has been stood for 18 months. It started a few days ago but wouldn't rev. above 3000 revs. so on closer inspection I discovered that the cable linkage to the carbs had seized & I've tried WD40 but they still wont open.

the only real answer is to take the carbs apart and clean lubricate and re -assemble them ,but this is alot of work and very fiddly you will need to get them balanced after you out them back on too.other than that you can keep trying with your wd40 and working the linkages back and forth it will eventually loosen up.make sure you have some free play in the cables too as this can cause some sticking if they are too tight good luck bryn
