1999 Escort Finesse TDI Estate, no sidelights, but headlights work ok?

Hi I have a 1999 Escort Finesse tdi estate, the headlights work ok on dip and main beam, however the sidelights front and rear dont work and neither does the instrument lighting. I have checked the fuses with a tester I believe its fuses 4 (lh lights) and 7 (rh lights), which I checked with a fluke 25 and am getting 12.5v on both sides. i have checked the connections on the fuse box all seems to be ok and ive changed the lights/wiper arm switch assembly for a new one but still no side lights. Any ideas would be helpfull please.

Turns out the problem was the fuse box, apparently everything electrical passes through the fuse box as it also houses the relays, the faulty part was a connection to the busbar internally, which incidentally cant be readily fixed. A trip to the local breakers yard with the Ford part number turned up an identical replacement, which only took about 15 minutes to fit. problem solved.

It seems that this is a common problem on the Finesse - I have just encountered the same. The culprit turns out to be the headlight / indicator switch stalk assembly. I'm waiting for my new one to arrive, but from trawling the internet this appears to cure the problem. HTH
