Don't waste your money buying 'service discs' all of the information you need is totally free. go to www.dyson-online.com and click on 'Help & Support' then select either 'Technical Advice or 'Hints & Tips'. All the information and parts you need will be there.

Hi there it sounds like the base plate is touching the belt drive, you can turn upside down remove bottom plate and start machine and move head to check, if its not in contact with any part of the machine. if it looks good then it will be the clutch. best of luck.. answer to clutch replacement already on site..
