airbag light on all the time on a vauxhall vectra?

airbag light on all the time on a vauxhall vectra 2001 diesel

You can ignore it, it is not a legal/MOT requirement to have functioning airbag system. However, if you are in a crash, the airbags will not work.
Most common causes of light coming on are-

Seat belt pre-tensioner plugs under front seats disturbed when seats are moved back and forward or over-enthusiastic hoovering.

Flat battery/disconnection of battery while key is in ignition.

To get the light out, and re-activate the airbag system, you have to fix the fault then get the light put out using a diagnostic computer. Most independent workshops have equipment which can do this, and will be cheaper than a Vauxhall dealer.
