Corsa 56 plate -anyone else had problems with the front coil springs?

I have just had my first MOT and its failed due to both front coil springs needing replaced - £300! It would seem from some researh that this is not an isolated issue with a corsa?!? I have only done 15000 miles!

Front springs last year and rear springs this year, 02 plate Corsa with 21K. Easy to replace with spring comressor kit, under £80 for the springs and kit last year and rear springs around £50.

very common problem, but £300 is a bit steep.
springs are about £50 each . on a bad day should only take an hour and a half
