E4 IS FLASHING ?

E4 IS FLASHING ON MY BAUMATIC BDW13 DISHWASHER
D.CURRAN, February 2010
hi d.curran further to tony t's answer which is correct ,
i had the same problem with my dishwasher and tonys advice worked well but i found the problem was persisting and happening more often in the end i admitted defeat and called in a plumber( being a jack of all trades and concider myself quite able to tackle most things this really grated me :-) ) plumber arrived and found the problem in the one place i didnt think to look. this i might add cost me £100, remove the top draw and you will see a hexagonal plastic nut on the back wall remove it, it is only hand tight so no tools required, now check the thread on the piece poking through the back wall in my experience this had split and was allowing the water to leak into the lower workings of dishwasher and activating the cut out switch, parts can be ordered on line for around 20 quid easy to replace if you have some diy capability. 3 out of 10 for difficulty. hope this helps good luck .. alex p.s dont like baumatic any more my dishwasher now has stopped working again this time i suspect it is to do with the programmer or something like that which will probably result in me having to buy new washer, going to take it out first and strip it down to see if i can fix it before admitting defeat again lol . good luck

It is an overfill error. It means there is water in the bottom tray where the motor is. It has activated a float switch in the base. Turn off the power. You need to remove the plinth below the door and prise off the grey covers. Soak up all the water with a towel (or remove the machine and tip to get the water out). You will see a little gadget with a block of polystyrene behind the grey cover. This is the overfill float switch.
