The saw loads up like too much fuel when idling?

I have a Homelite super XL automatic. At idle its like its getting to much fuel. It wont maintain a smooth idle (very erratic) When I pull the throttle it hesitates, blows major smoke, then it smooths out. Ive checked everything out, adjusted the carb. After running it for awhile I will shut it down, pull the plug and its very wet. What is the fuel ratio recomended. Also I have 65 psi compression, is that sufficiant? Im out of ideas. Can you help.

This may be a carb issue, leaning it off on the L screw should realy sort this out, if not then it could be the needle in the carb leaking, but this would effect the high revs as well, make sure the air filter is clear as this will richen the mixture, partly blocked exhaust port, or muffler will also richen the mixture, 65psi is not very high, check the condition of the piston through the exhaust port. Older saws ran on a 25.1 fuel oil mix
