how can i fix my ford ka fan belt?

My fan has stopped going round when my car gets hot, is it important? How much will it cost me?

ive had overheating problems and now suspect the *electric fan is inoperative, apparently theres a sensor under the inlet manifold which switches the fan on as temp exceeds normal - im guessing this switch may be faulty so its a case of either a new sensor / switch needed.....or bridge the switch so as the fan is on continualy, i favour the latter remedy haveing the fan on permanantly should be less hassle. the *ka is a cheap and generaly reliable motor but mine has had a new head gasket, two new hoses and its still overheating, so i now suspect the electric fan.

hi does your temperature guage go into the red/hot? i think on your car its got an electric fan on it and its not powered by the auxhillary or fan belt as they call it? the fan will just come on when it gets to a certain temp and then cut out again when its cooled the water sufficiently... if your guage is fine and your not loosing any water and still getting warm air through your heaters i wouldnt worry but maybe get a mech to look just in case
