Can I remove a wheel without the original locking nut?

I recently bought a Peugot 306 Turbo Deisel. I need to replace a front tyre but I cannot find the locking nut. I called the previous owner but they don't have it either. Will another locking nut from a similar model work or will I have to have the wheel removed by force?

if you can still drive the vehicle then call a tyre fitter and ask if they can do it and take it there.

get a socket that is about the right size to go over the locking nut and then hit it over and if your lucky and it isn't to tight you might be able to remove it.there are special tools for removing these and they are available

as a last resort you can have a stud welded to the lock nut and remove it that way. We have removed loads this way. Regards Dave ( First Strike Welding Services)
