intermittant warning appears on the message panel on
my 3.0litre deisel,FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM,and control
of engine revs via accelerator peddle is lost.
Control returns within seconds and warning goes out
but fault repeats itself several times before going away
for a week or two and then returning.

You need to get it onto a diagnostic computer to find the cause and if possible drive with the diagnostic unit connected so that real time info can be collected, it is more likely to be a sensor or a valve that is causing the fault than the pump.
