Peugeot can i use a 1997 petrol 406 starter motor on a diesel?

Had a question from a guy asking if my Peugeot 1997 406 petrol auto starter motor would be compatable with his 1997 406 diesel auto. Both 2L.

NO a diesel starter has to have internal planetary gearing due to the sheer power the motor needs to overcome the compression of a diesel engine at 20 to 1 where a car may be 8 to 1 max
