brake light flashing?

i have a 2005 ford ka 1.3 and the dash board light for the handbrake keeps flashing. does this mean the brakes need replaceing or the brake fluid needs topping up or the hand brake is faulty?

Hi Jenny, it is most likely to be either of the first two, if the brakes are near to worn out, the fluid level will be lower as the brake pistons will be fully extended, so causing the lower fluid level. The front pads do not have electrical wear limit indications.
The handbrake lever switch can be tested by releasing the lever and banging around the lever and see if the light comes on
