engine will not tick over on starting, p reg vectra 1799cc?

engine starts first time. you have to keep accelerating or it dies on you.after it warms up there is no problem it will start first time.it seems to rev up and drop of for about 7min without touching accel.if any one can help

maybe u should try looking at your choke in the carb maybe it is not opening propely
