Mondeo Ghia MK2 (W reg) Saloon. Central locking remote on key does not work?

How do I programme my remote key for the central locking. It has 3 buttons but no little glass sensor showing. I have tried several ideas but none work. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Derek
