Hi Graham WINTERFLOOD

Thanks for how To dismantle and clean the cyclone.

its prefect. The handle was the trickiest, after removing the front screws raise the front, and the top part of the back bit pops up, and then slide the whole handle backwards

Overheating and poor suction

The DC08 cyclone unit is easy to clean out.

After doing the usual filter cleaning if the low suction/cutting out problem persists try this.

1. remove dust collector from main DC08 body separate cyclone clear plastic dust collector.

2. turn cyclone upside down (handle to floor) and pull from side to side the cone section underneath. ( it looks like its moulded to the main body) it will work loose and remove it.

3. Remove the three screws and separate the upper and lower sections (be careful to note rubber seal position).
The screws are torx but a small flat blade will work just make sure its a tight fit to prevent damage to the screws.

4. Wash out with garden hose/bath shower unit, make sure the upper body is clean inside the housing, dry thoroughly and reassemble making sure to refit seals correctly.

To dismantle and clean the cyclone.

Remove the complete cyclone unit from the machine.
Remove the transparent dust bucket.
Remove the 10cm / 4" long large funnel shaped section by gently pulling it off, ( it's just clip fitted inside the larger piece which has all the hundreds of little holes in it.) Now you can access three screws which are Torx /Star type headed, to remove the section with all the little holes. You will then be able to see two more screws deep inside which hold the cyclone unit onto the top cover. Remove these 2 screws, turn the cover over and remove the 2 screws which hold the handle onto the cover. Finally carefully prise the handle sideways, (it's clipped onto the cover,) to remove it and discover the last screw, making a total of 5 holding the cover on. This will give you access to a complicated white plastic moulding, which I recommend that you don't try to dismantle, but clean carefully with a bottle brush. Good luck, the only difficult part is unclipping the handle, but it's worth it to have a really clean cyclone. Make sure that everything is TOTALLY DRY before you try to use it, otherwise the dust will stick and immediately block everything up again.
