Ford Mondeo automatic gearbox problem?

Hi, I have an N reg ford mondeo 1.8lx auto. It drives ok but it seems to wait until the engine is revving quite high between gear changes. I have changed the gear lever position sensor on top of the gearbox but no improvement. At 30mph it seems to stay in 2nd gear at 2500rpm until i take my foot of the accelerator and it will then drop into 3rd. Transmission fluid is clean and at correct level. Thanks

Hi Richard, my son has a similar sounding problem on his 2003 Mondeo, it seems to do this when warmed up, transmission seems to be searching for right rev range to change Where is the n/s wheel and is it easy to replace that sensor

many ex-Asia mondeo gearboxes,(automatic) that i have come across break gearbox clutch hubs. Anyone with an idea of what could be wrong with them or experienced the same problem and would greatly welcome any solutions.is it our cheap transmission fluids, the hot weather, rough roads or what. Hi i rebuild auto gearbox,s for a living and i do lots of mondeo.
Problem could be the turbine speed sensors located in the back of the gearbox which is the oil pump,if you take the n/s wheel off you,ll see it.
