problem with heater in car?

ford escort finesse.put new thermostat in.tempreture guage at halfway when warm but will not blow hot air out.

i reckon the heater change over valve is stuck shut/seized or loose the lever in the car that has the RED and BLUE temp on it works this valve , get someone to work the lever while you watch its operation under the bonnet close to the bulk head where the heater pipes enter the car interior to go to the heater matrix
