Rover 25 speedometer KPH to MPH?

, I have a left hand drive Rover 25 which I'm importing to UK. I bought a New Spedometer MPH to replace the KPH original . problem is after switching the speedo's the MPH will not work the rev meter does . is there more needed than a swap over of speedo's or has the new one a problem.
