It may not be anything to do with your problem but,, My zafira diesel ( 51 plate 118000 miles ) always seemed to have lack of power and sometimes take a bit to start but once started I had no probs but on 15 Feb 2010 it just refused to start and when it did start it sounded like an old diesel engine. Once turned off and tried to restart it wouldn't turn over and would drain the battery. I called the RAC out. After few minutes he found that the fuel pipes that go in and out of the fuel filter were very loose and he could pull them off without any effot. Whilst they were off he used a pipe and a spare can of diesel to bypass the filter and when the car finally started it ran without any problems. the RAC man reattached the pipes back onto the filter and fired up the car. Since the 15 feb I have not had anymore problems with starting or sluggishness. The man told me because the pipes were loose air was being drawn into the pipes and pressure had dropped. Now the car goes like a rocket. Hope this helps
