Heat AND Timer stopped at the same time (Maytag DE512)?

Okay, this a weird one!

I was doing laundry one day, and came downstairs to check the clothes in the dryer (running for 45 minutes), and when I opened the door, there was no heat at all. And when I looked up to check the settings, the timer hadnt moved an inch. So the heater & timer both stopped at the same time on the same load! The dial is tied into the circuit of the thermostats, so I went out & spent $100 on a new dial thinking that HAD to be the problem. I install the new timer (non-returnable by the way), and NOTHING changed.. Still no heat or timer movement.

Now Im stumped what would cause both the heat to stop working AND the timer dial OTHER than the timer itself?

Maybe the new timer is bad???

Hello,

Does this dryer have an autodry setting? I don't believe it does. If it does, if you haven't already, make sure you are trying the dryer in timed mode as opposed to autodry.
