Renault Megane hatchback1.6?

The service light is showing on the dash ,my mechanic says he cant find a problem other than there may be a broken or missing tooth from the cambelt area but there are no signs from the engine of this ,plus the car is intermittently cutting out when i slow down ,has anyone got any answers?

Theres no misfire and the car was only serviced 6 months ago ,the computer readings at the garage leaned towards the cam belt but the engine is running really smoothly just the cutting out

it maybe your top dead centre (tdc) sensor. sometimes they fail to pick up the signal from ur flywheel so it shows u havent got any engine speed then it cuts out. (if you have no engine speed you wont have a spark from your spark plugs)

it may require a service. the service indicator comes on when it needs a service depending on the mileage and hw old it is

is the car lacking in preformance or does it have a missfire
