power to radio etc?

I recently purchased a new stereo for my Ford KA. 2001.

my boyfriend tried to fit the radio but it would not connect to the power when the engine was turned on. He then tried to refit the old one so that i would have a radio and that would not connect either.

We then noticed that the clock ont he dashboard had stopped working too. It is almost as if all of the power to the dash has stopped working. Just wondered if you might have any idea why this has happened?

could he have knocked a connection somewhere.

any idea would be great.

thanks in advance

Hi Beki, there are two fuses that are common to the radio and the clock, fuse#35 10amp (ignition supply) fuse#2 10amp (12v memory supply) Both of these fuses are in the fusebox by drivers right knee.

On the original radio wiring, pin 1 Orange/Black (thicker wire) 12v memory supply, pin 2 Black/Yellow ground, pin 3 Blue/Black (thicker wire) 12v ignition supply, pin 4 Orange/Black (thinner wire) 12v radio backlighting (sidelights) pin 6 Black/Green ground, pin 7 Yellow/Red supply to aerial

If you think a copy of the wiring diagrams would help contact me on nige110162(at symbol)hotmail.co.uk

check the fuse has not blown, the one for the radio should be in a little holder , on the wirieng going to the radio, just as you take the radio out of the dash, im not sure if it works the clock too , but check your car manual to find out were your fuse box is? and then check the small amp ones to see if one of them has blown , the 5/10 / 15 amp . you will see the little wire broken , if their gone ,
