grinding noise stops when i steer to the left ford focus 1.8 1999?

when driving at 10 mph or above there is a grinding noise coming from the driver side.. it goes when i steer to the left.

Sounds like a failed wheel bearing or universal joint.

If you are lucky it might be a stone trapped between the brake disc and back plate. This might be cleared by reversing the car for 25M or so.

If noise is louder on braking could be disc pads.
