WHILE DRIVING ON TH MOTORWAY FOR APPROX 50 MIN THEN THE GEAR SUDDENLY DROPS TO 2nd.IF I TRY TO PUT IT ON MANUAL THE INDICATOR STAYS ON "D" and WILL NOT SHIFT GEARS. MUST SWITCH OFF WAIT THEN ON AGAIN. IT WILL NOT DO IT IN TOWN DRIVING BUT WILL ALWAYS DO IT AFTER A CONSTANT HIGHWAY DRIVE OF 50~60 MIN. ANY IDEAS

Get the car scanned. Is (Gear Fault ) appearing on center display. If so you will find that the gear select solenoid is faulty There are two solenoids sometime one will go before the other once one is bad change both. Both solenoids are the same. If solenoids needs changing it is a big job and requires about 2-3qts oil 2 solenoids and a valve cover gasket
