no the dash does not have to come right.
remove the two pipes in the engine bay at the bulk end which go to the matrix. the only reason why the dash comes forwards is to let the heater box what the matrix is fix in to with two self tappers on the dash there is screws round by the window and down each side by the doors and round the heater box the matrix comes out by the clutch pedal you will see it near the back of the heater box.good luck
