No need to check fuse, the problem is very likely to be broken wires within the rubber grommet leading to the glass tailgate. Common problem/fix.

I am unable to open the tailgate of my Y Reg. C5 estate by either the button on the dash or the external lever.
There must be a fuse somewhere but is not shown in the handbook.
Any ideas ?
