kawasaki 250 eliminator?

heavy engine knock when started from cold, when warm knock disapears, anyone any ideas
Jeff Broom, February 2010
a clutch wont give a heavy engine knock the knock you get from kawasakis is usually from the hi- vo chain that drives the clutch from the crank as that is how they drive it on bikes like gpz500/er5/er6/zzr250 the clutch rattle from a worn clutch basket is far from heavy and will go quiet when you pull the clutch in.does it?as im pretty sure that the el250 uses the conventional gear driven clutch basket off the crankshaft.

hi it could be clutch basket knock just pull clutch in when started if it stops you will no all old kawaskis i have had have been noisey first thing in morning

sounds like the big end bearing! does it get worse if you put it under load?like putting it into 1st gear and letting the clutch out a bit with the front brake held on so it starts to push the froks down.if it does then i would say its that for sure it could also be cam end float or a worn cam but this test will determine that.let me know ok
