Sounds like there is a tamper fault! Are you sure its on the bell box? Is the new bell connected properly? Is the back tamper (if fitted) sited properly? Is the lid fitted properly? Maybe a cable fault. If you don't really know what you are doing it may be time to spend some dosh and call a profesional!
