Optima Xm6 battery?

I have a Xm6 alarm (13 years old), which has started to alarm (sound the external bell) in a power cut. I think it might need a new battery which I assume is in the control box and not the outdoor bell box. From other info on the internet suggestions say batteries between 1.2A and 6 A are ok but I can't find out what the physical dimensions are so I can buy one first and fit. I am a bit nervous of undoing the panel first, if it's there to look. Also is the battery easy to source! Once I have done it I will realise how daft this question will sound to many people. Thanks for any help received.

Thanks 'Death' for your reply. I guess I will have to open the cover to see what the battery looks like but I will wait until next weekend during the day when it's light just in case something goes wrong and the bell sound does not travel so far.

Thanks again

yes its a easy job just be carefull of the mains when you open the panel there might already be a battery there if you are not sure which 1 to get just look at the one thats in now and take it with you to an alarm shop but check the fuse first it could say batt check the quick blow fuse and if its gone i doubt you will need a new battery you will just need a fuse if its not gone then you need to get a new battery

and the alarm will sound when you remove the cover

let me know how it goes

Death

and p.s buy some quick blow fuses from your local alarm shop just for future use
