dryer keeps bleeping x3 times in succession and not operating, whats the problem?

Hi we have just had a hotpoint engineer out and he said to make sure you clean the condenser which is located in the bottom left hand corner behind the cover as this can affect the dryer not drying properly. He cleaned it under our outside tap.

we have had for several yrs a hotpoint aquarius CTD40 tumble dryer which must be 5 yrs old and never used. The reason we do not use it is because it never dries anything regardless of the time we run it for which could be up to 6hrs. I have selected various settings without any luck. please help
