speedfight 2 wont turn off!!?

today i turned the bike off and removed the key after riding it only for it to carry on running! i put the key back in and tried to turn it off but this didnt work. someone sugested puttin my foot over the exhaust so i did this. this cut the engine but the bike kept makin a noise as if it was tryin to start up. it continued doing this untill the battery went flat. i tried a different battery later on and the bike made the noise as if it was tryin to start up, this is with the keys removed also. i think it may be something to do with the electric start button button but im not sure. it has only done this since been ridden in heavy rain but surely this shouldnt effect it? what could this be and how can i fix it. thanks for any help given.

cheers adam, it was the starter relay, pulled it out and the connections needed a clean. when i put it back it started and stopped properly aswell, so i dunno why it kept running last time?! thanks to bb and mark for your help also. :D

ok the problem with the bikes engine turning over even with it turned off is the starter relay, basically there are a set of contact points inside it and they are either fused together or as bb says the relay is waterlogged and its telling the relay to contact.i have cleaned them before and get them to work again but its not a good fix and willl do it again after a while.look at the battery and just in front of it to the right you will see a yellow relay that is the starter relay pull the plug off the terminals on it and i bet it stop turning over, well it has to as this is where the power comes from ,get a new one and plug it in there and you will see its ok then.the problem witht he bike still running after the igntion is switched off sonuns like a faulty ignition switch to me or a loose wire on the back of it as the low tension coil feed gets sent to earth there so its eithet that or a problem with the wiring loom.

Heavy rain does affect them. Try and dry out, sunny day best.. if we ever get one. When and ONLY when dry spray a bit of wd40 over the switch and this should prevent it happening again.

Try what the Previous post says disconnect and use kick start. Odd that you had key turned and it still tried to start?

Dis connect your electric start. Aply the new battery and kick start the bike (With the key in the ignition) When started turn the ignition off. I had the problem with my sons and i did this and it was fine. How many miles has the bike done?
