Change Cylinder on Suffolk Punch 43s?

I need to sharpen the cylinder on my suffolk punch 43s and in the process of stripping down the mower in order to remove the cylinder.

I havent managed to find any documentation on the how to remove the cylinder and wonder if anyone has any experience and can suggest the best approach.

At the moment, i may well remove unnecessary items and create extra work for myself and someone out there must have done this already.

Any help would be grately appreciated.

Thanks

How did you manage the oil stone reick without risking your fingers on the rotating blades please?

I sharpened a mower cylinder on a friend's 14" Qualcast last year without dismantling it...

I took an oilstone to the rotating blades and honed a clean edge on them - then I cleaned up the fixed blade and then set the edge for a clearance/interference fit. A check by hand with a piece of paper showed it cut like a pair of scissors. Friend very pleased.

If you really wish to strip it down you can find lots of exploded parts diagrams here...

Look under Spare Parts Qualcast Classic Petrol 43S (10 models)

Good luck...

Took a couple of hours. Much easier than dismantling
