How can I fix my craftsman eager 1, 6.75 horse power?

I started my lawnmower this year and it stalled out and started leaking gas out though the air filter. I think I may have adjusted the gas screw too much accidentally.

I recently acquired a craftsman 6.75 eager 1 from a friend who just bought a new john deere. When I first started it, I had the same problem. Stalled out, and fuel leaked from the air filter. I know I could just get it serviced, and still save what I would be paying for a new mower, but I'd like to see if I can fix it myself. Like my pappy always used to say, "If it don't fit, force it! If it breaks...It needed fixin' anyway!"

Drain fuel, remove the float bowl from the carb (1/2" socket) Pull the float pin watching how the needle attaches to the float. Contaminates between the needle and seat can cause fuel to leak through as well as a float that has leaked and has fuel inside. If neither is the case replace the needle and seat or have a repair shop install if you are unsure. There are a couple engines out there that have differeant style carbs and are serviced differently.
