When unblocking the large drain pipe from a whirlpool aa1000 the ping pong sized ball fell out. Dose this ball go into the large drain pipe before the rubber cup or dose the cup sit in the pipe followed by the ball????

This sounds similar to the problem I've just had with my new world washing machine. If you've cleaned the pump -not sure what you mean by that-did you mean the filter? If you can't get the door open-put the drain hose into a shallow bowl on the floor and water should drain out by gravity (unless the drain hose is blocked).Assuming you get all of the water out of the machine-the safety lock should then be released for you to open the front loading door.Next job is to remove all the hoses going into the drain pump-mine had three and remove them completely from the machine and clean them with a bottle brush on a stick ,or flexible small drain cleaner coiled strip or initially try blowing hard through the hose-make sure the free end is going into a bucket.Also-once you've managed to empty your machine-can you see pump impeller when you remove the filter plug-if yes-switch machine onto "drain" position (obviously after putting back all the drain hoses and clips) and see if impeller rotates. If yes-try putting about 5 pints of water into the drum, close door and see if it will drain. (after you've cleaned all of the hoses to the pump.)
