My grandfather clock still runs even its 20 years up?

It still runs even its very old. The mechanism was fine. I oiled it too much and it starts ticking and telling time. The problem is, if I tighten the minute nut, even its oiled, the grandfather clock will stop for a few hours. How does this happen even there is oil in the minute nut?

Thanks Steven, but I don't have enough $300 to service it. PS- it still runs perfectly. But when I tighten the minute nut, half of the hour will advance a second, to the right facing the clock, but the other half, left facing to the clock, it is right, no advance seconds. PS- the case is crumbling apart since it was flooded in the foot of the clock. it needs a big wood to balance it. can i change the case but it wouldn't look good. i like it the way it was.

It needs a good cleaning and bushings. Call a repairman or take up a new hobby. You can look on Youtube and see what is involved in a overhaul of a movement. Minimum of $300.
