I have got a Megane Alize 1.6 and unfortunately one of my friends managed to turn the child lock on on that door (back left door).

The exterior handle doesn't work - something that I noticed before but assumed it was normally because i tried to open it in the morning when it was freezing cold and later on the day seemed to work fine (coincidence or not I'm not so sure).

The problem is now that I can't open the door through the inside because the child lock is on and I can't open it through the outside because the handle doesn't seem to do anything.

I took it to my local Renault garage and they charge me £75 just to look at it then labour costs and parts obviously.

I thought about taking the inside panel off and having a look but with the back seat on the way i can't reach one of the screws...


Anyone had a similar problem or that can tell me how to take that seat off and the door panel? And if I do take the door panel off, would I be able to reach the child lock flick thing?

Right after playing with it for around 30 minutes I lost my pacience and pulled the door panel and it actually came off quite easily and you don't have to undo the bottom 2 screws and you don't need to take the seat off - just folding it should be enough.

I had to get my friend as my arms were too big - he managed to grab the piece of the outside handle that was broken - which I'm ordering a new one on eBay and release the lock and opening the door.
