How do I do a continuity check on gas value of Worcester?

My Worcester combi has a problem with the pilot light. It will keep going out before the gas has a chance to come through. I have put a new thermo coupling on but this hasn't made any difference. Could it be the gas valve and if so how can I tell? Any advice would be appreciated.

If the pilot stays in o/k but goes out as soon as you turn the boiler on it could be that the gas supply to the boiler is blocked or not turned on fully and is only letting enough gas through for the pilot. Also make sure that the when you blow the pilot light out that the gas valve clicks after a few seconds cutting the supply off to the pilot. As for checking the continuity of the gas valve by the fact that the pilot goes out when you turn the boiler on indicates that the valve is energising and is o/k.

sounds to me like the pilot jet is a bit blocked this is on the gas pipe next to the thermocouple, undo the nut and it should drop out , give it a good clean and see if that cures your problem
