engine cranks but will not start?

14hp briggs twin engine has fire and gas, new starter, airfilter and turns over good. will not start. seems to be flooding. used choke but still will not start. Used starting fluid at times but still does not start. Do I need to put an ounce of oil in the plug opening to help compression. Engine worked fine last year.

If it's flooding I'd suspect the needle is sticking and would rebuild the carb.

Opposed twins are noted for coil failure. The cd in the coil can cause the spark to hit the cylanders out of time- so sometime you may see spark
